Connecting Seatalk 1 to NMEA 2000

Just like how your MacBook Pro, your iPhone, and your iPad all talk to each other, all of our Navigation equipment on our boat now talks to each other too.

Our new Garmin Chart Plotter and Vesper Cortex AIS are different systems than our existing systems, and we needed them to talk to each other for simplicity and utility.  Now we can plan navigation routes on our Garmin chart plotter and our auto pilot will recognize them and keep us on course.

Wind information, depth and speed now also show up on our Garmin instrument.  This makes sailing much easier since we can see all the information we need in one spot.

Watch this short video where Stephen explains how he connected Seatalk 1 to Seatalk NG and NMEA 2000 Backbone with the help of Andrew Moseley from https://www.moseleymarinepower.com.
